In 2020, on my birthday, I bought my first block of clay in a small hobby shop and made my very first object — then somehow I didn’t touch clay again for nearly two years. In the spring of 2022, after leaving my job without a clear plan ahead, I finally had the space to experiment and create. That’s when my first collection was born, around thirty pieces in total.
Before this, I worked as an economist, and ceramics gradually became a form of creative self-expression for me. Since 2022, as a self-taught ceramicist, I’ve been making small batches of ceramic objects, mainly mugs. Every piece is built and shaped by hand.
It’s important to me that my hands are present in every step of the process from cutting the raw clay to the final dip into glaze.
In the summer of 2025, thanks to an Erasmus scholarship, I spent two months in Barcelona, where I worked and learned at La Gloria Factoria de Arte studio from ceramic and mosaic artist Nevenka Pavic. This period was defining not only professionally, but also in showing me that ceramics can be a shared, community experience beyond the walls of a workshop.
Nevenka introduced me to mosaic techniques, deepened my knowledge of ceramics, and showed me how creating can become a collective process. Many of her works can be found throughout the streets of Barcelona, made together with local residents — witnessing this up close was especially inspiring. I also gained insight into the everyday rhythm and background processes of a successfully run ceramic studio.
I feel incredibly fortunate to have experienced the lifestyle and mindset there — something I brought a small piece of home with me.
Somehow mugs are woven together with the joy of making coffee. And coffee, in its own way, is about taking a moment for yourself: even on the busiest day, brewing a cup makes us pause if only for a few minutes alone or with someone dear to us. I love that my mugs can serve such a simple, meaningful purpose.
Do you like coffee? Only with my oxygen.
